RANDY TAT, Painter - TIMEY THE JUGGLING CLOWN'S CIRCUS TRUNK (circa 1942)- Randy created this assemblage for the show&tell: ART OF TIME EXHIBIT at the Zimmer Children's Museum, opening May 7th, 2006, Beverly Hills, California. This ‘40s circus trunk was the property of Timey the Clown, who went by the nickname “Tick Tock,” appearing at circuses, state fairs and carnival side shows, astounding the locals by juggling five clocks, catching them in his right hand and announcing the correct time. Little did he know, his clocks were never set correctly, so he was always late. His costumes and shoes are stored in the trunk, with props and materials collected from thrift shops, garage sales and trash bins. The refinished make-up box displays his timepieces, along with prosthetic noses and face paints. Timey's father, a watch repairman, was the source of his fascination with clocks. Both trunks are hand-painted with acrylics, covered by authentic circus posters and decoupaged memorabilia. The backing, finished with vintage fabric, features photos of Timey and artifacts from the era pinned to the upholstery, as well as an antique bouillon fringing the bottom.
